The Department of Biology at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Professor of Practice to direct its Biotechnology graduate program beginning August 1, 2022. ( ). The program grants BA/BS and Professional Science MS (PSM) degrees to students seeking employment in the Biotech/Life Sciences sector. Responsibilities of the Director include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Biotechnology, administering the MS program, recruiting and evaluating MS applicants, interacting with the Biotechnology teaching faculty, maintaining a laboratory for training BS/MS students, establishing and fostering industry contacts, identifying potential funding sources, and maintaining program requirements to satisfy PSM certification. The Director will report to the Chair of the Department of Biology.

Preferred Qualifications

- PhD or equivalent at the time of appointment with substantial research and managerial or entrepreneurial experience in a private sector biotechnology, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, agricultural or related company. At minimum, a MS degree is required.
- Teaching experience or ability to communicate effectively in group settings.
- Publications, with significant contributions from the candidate, in quality peer-reviewed journals related to their field of research, or patents in their area of expertise.
- Ability to attract industry funds to support student research. Research can be in any area related to Biotechnology, including agrobiology, bioinformatics, biomedical science, microbiology or molecular biology.
